From the ashes like a Phoenix
This is Ben Drake and his health transformation. Growing up I was very sedentary in my life. I barely knew much physical activity which had lead to the state where I was told either I lose weight or could end up diabetic or worse.
The active lifestyle was never demonstrated as an example at home. My family had a history of many health challenges, this did include one family member who was a diabetic. A number of other conditions too.
Many of the roles which I took on when did get work were office or call centre based. Meaning that I was sitting more than anything else. I’d play computer games for hours on end. Most of which I was unaware of the need for a health transformation.
In the years prior to this conversation, I’d had several significant injuries. From dislocated knee caps, sprained ankles, as well as being diagnosed with Schumann’s disease. I had very lax muscles as well. I have spent Years in physiotherapy learning to build stronger and get my muscles under control. Years at the gym getting healthier and improving my own physical activity.
I had all the odds against me, a Dr who later said they didn’t believe I could lose weight. Family members who were themselves unhealthy. A very sedentary lifestyle themselves who needed to work on their own health transformation.
I’d been dealing with depression for many years upset with myself. I was badly overweight for a long time, despite years of attempts to get my weight down. I had struggled to find what would work best for myself. Health transformation and weight loss would occasionally work for a while but it’s effects were never long term.
My life was full of fast food and soft drinks, working as I was as a shiftworker and working as well in the fast food industry as mentioned previously. My roles were also very much sitting; I would buy a 1.25 litre soft drink and it would be gone in hours. It was also the family diet barely drank water. Life was a real mess until I joined network marketing and started transforming my own life. Walking away from years of false beliefs and programming.
Learning better healthier habits like drinking water, healthier foods. I got started on becoming healthier at the gym and went from there. It was a journey learning what worked for myself in getting healthier, building stronger muscles. Working on my own health transformation. The foods that worked best for myself and the eating habits that worked, rather than the old learned habits.
These days I barely drank a soft drink, it can stay in the fridge for days untouched and its ok. It’s been getting around those healthier people. I can swim around 40 laps of the pool, go for a decent walk.
